Why a stucco-only service
Most exterior work in this county gets sold by painters and handymen as a side line. A painter caulks the crack and rolls over it. A handyman smears patch compound over a hollow spot. Both look fine until the first August storm drives rain sideways into the wall, and then the homeowner pays twice. Stucco repair is its own trade. It rebuilds the failed layers, paper, lath, scratch, brown, finish, so the wall sheds water again. The Arizona Registrar of Contractors licenses it separately for that reason, under the Plastering classification (R-36 residential, C-36 commercial, CR-36 dual), and any contractor you hire should hold the appropriate license and insurance. How it works
Photos first. A wide shot of the elevation, a close-up of the worst damage, and a picture of whatever might be causing it: the scupper above the stain, the sprinkler by the soft spot, the landscape rock piled over the weep screed. From that we can usually tell which system is on the wall, one-coat, three-coat, or synthetic, and whether you are looking at a $400 crack repair or a $4,000 rebuild. Diagnosis before quotes. A sound job starts by sounding the wall and tracing the crack to its cause.
